On the edge of Amsterdam's Realen Island is Tannay, a restaurant where classic French cuisine comes alive with contemporary finesse. Chef Thomas Demuth, raised in the village of Tannay in Burgundy, brings his culinary heritage to the city with a menu that is both refined and timeless.
Tannay is all about the essence of flavor: deep sauces, rich preparations and dishes rooted in tradition but with a light, modern touch. The five-course chef's menu and à la carte selection reflect Thomas' experience at top establishments such as the George V in Paris, combined with the culinary hand of patron Alain Caron.
Our wine list is a journey through Burgundy, Loire and Champagne, carefully curated to support and enhance each dish. Tannay is not just about food and wine, but the total experience: warm hospitality, attention to detail and a table that invites long evenings in good company.
There is the possibility to eat at the kitchen, and also for groups there is a semi private room for up to 16 people. In summer, the terrace offers more than enough space to enjoy outdoor dining by the old drawbridge.
The monumental canal house on Zandhoek contains a unique piece of history. More information can be found here
We prefer to cook with seasonal ingredients, and in addition to meat and fish, we also use gluten, nuts and lactose. We can accommodate many allergies and dietary needs, but it is best if we are aware of these before your visit to Tannay. You can indicate this when making your reservation.

Restaurants Caron was founded in 2016 by brothers Tom and David and their father Alain Caron. With their first restaurant, Café Caron, they wanted guests to experience Alain's take on French cuisine. The restaurant quickly earned a permanent place in the Amsterdam hospitality landscape. Caron now has four restaurants in Amsterdam, each with its own interpretation and perspective of a home-style restaurant driven by the French bistro movement.
